A 100 A, 690 V fast-blow ceramic fuse with bolted joint rated for 50 kA interrupting capacity
The OEM Industries GSG RGS4 is a cylindrical ceramic-tube fuse rated at 100 amps and 690 volts with a 50 kA breaking capacity. It uses a bolted-joint design for secure mounting in industrial power circuits. Electrical engineers and maintenance teams specify it for line protection where rapid fault clearing is required.
The fast-blow characteristic clears short-circuit current faster than standard gG or gL fuses, reducing let-through energy to downstream equipment. The step up is justified when protecting semiconductor drives, rectifiers or other aR-rated loads that cannot withstand the thermal impulse of a slower fuse. Installations staying within gG coordination curves do not need this rating.
The fuse body fits into compatible bolted fuse bases; torque the mounting bolts to the base manufacturer's specification to avoid hot spots. A common error is re-using a base with pitted contacts, which raises resistance and causes nuisance opening. Verify that the system voltage does not exceed 690 V and that the prospective fault current is within the 50 kA interrupting rating.

The fuse uses a bolted joint on a cylindrical ceramic body; match the holder to the 100A aR 690V rating and verify bolt centres before mounting.
Install with the ceramic tube vertical or horizontal as the panel allows, tighten both bolted joints to the manufacturer’s specified torque, and confirm the 50KA interrupt rating is not exceeded.
A fast-blow ceramic fuse that has interrupted a 50KA fault must be replaced; inspect the bolted contacts for pitting and fit a new 100A aR 690V unit before restoring power.
