Versatile zoom for Micro Four Thirds

The OM System M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ Silver covers a 14-42mm focal range, equivalent to 28-84mm on full frame. It suits landscapes, portraits and everyday shooting. Weighing 4.79 oz (136g) and measuring .9 inches long, it adds minimal bulk to a PEN or OM-D body.

Upgrade from fixed focal lengths

This lens replaces a single prime by giving a 3x zoom range in a pancake form factor. The jump is worth it when you want wide-angle to short-tele flexibility without swapping glass. Electronic zoom and automatic retraction on power cycles make it smoother for video than manual primes.

Check mount and power-zoom compatibility

Ensure your Micro Four Thirds camera body supports electronic power-zoom control for the variable two-speed zoom to function. The retracting mechanism requires the camera to extend the lens on power-on. Buyers needing a constant aperture or wider maximum aperture than f/3.5-5.6 should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What is the length of the lens so I can check clearance on my Micro Four Thirds body?

The lens measures 0.9 inches long, making it a pancake-style design that adds minimal depth to PEN or OM-D cameras.

How does the electronic zoom and power-on retraction work during installation?

Mount the lens on the camera body; it automatically extends when the camera powers on and retracts when powered off, with a two-step electronic zoom lever for smooth control.

Will the auto-opening protective lens cap need replacement, and is it included?

The auto-opening protective lens cap is sold separately as an optional accessory, so budget for it if you want automatic cap operation.
