Wide zoom for APS-C Canon

The Tokina 12-28mm f/4 AT-X Pro covers a 19-45mm equivalent range on Canon APS-C bodies. A constant f/4 maximum aperture holds brightness across the zoom. Ultra-low dispersion and moulded glass aspherical elements reduce aberrations. A nine-blade diaphragm supports smooth background rendering.

Mount and filter fitting

The lens uses a Canon EF-S mount that locks with a standard bayonet turn. A 77 mm front thread accepts common circular polarisers and UV filters without vignetting. The AF/MF clutch slides forward for instant manual override; no menu diving is required. Ensure the camera body firmware recognises third-party AF before critical shoots.

Constant aperture under extended use

The f/4 aperture stays fixed from 12 mm to 28 mm, so exposure does not shift during long video takes or time-lapse sequences. Silent Drive-Module AF motor runs quietly without audible hunting. Optical construction resists flare during prolonged backlit scenes. The lens is not suited to full-frame sensors or users needing wider than 12 mm coverage.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the Silent Drive-Module AF motor is operating correctly on the Tokina 12-28mm f/4 AT-X Pro after mounting it?

Engage the AF/MF clutch to autofocus, then half-press the shutter; the lens should focus quietly and the viewfinder image should snap sharp across the 12-28mm zoom range.

Which accessories are included with the Tokina 12-28mm f/4 AT-X Pro and which must be purchased separately?

The lens ships with front and rear caps; a 77mm circular polariser or UV filter for the 77mm filter thread is sold separately.

Should I choose the 12-28mm f/4 AT-X Pro or a different focal-length version for my Canon APS-C body?

This model provides a 19-45mm equivalent on APS-C; select it when you need that ultra-wide to normal zoom range with constant f/4 aperture.
