Compact Laser Projector for Home Cinema

The Optoma ZH520 is a Full HD laser projector rated at 5500 lumens with a 3000000:1 contrast ratio. It supports HDR and HLG content in a 16:9 native aspect ratio. The compact design suits living-room or dedicated theatre installations where high brightness and long light-source life are priorities.

Simple Placement and Power-On

Setup requires only the supplied AC power cord and the included remote with its CR2025 battery. The laser light source removes lamp-replacement steps and warm-up delays. The main installation risk is insufficient ventilation around the chassis, which can trigger thermal protection and shut the unit down during long sessions.

Check Room Light and Source Compatibility

Verify that your playback devices output 1080p or compatible HDR/HLG signals over the interfaces you plan to use. Ambient light stronger than the projector’s rated brightness will wash out contrast, so assess typical viewing conditions. Ensure a suitable screen surface and throw distance for the 16:9 image before ordering.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the ZH520 is running at its rated 5500 lumens after setup?

Use a light meter at the screen centre in the brightest picture mode; the reading should approach 5500 lumens on a fresh laser module.

What ships with the projector and what must I source separately?

The box contains the ZH520 unit, an AC power cord, a remote control and one CR2025 battery; cables for video sources and any ceiling mount are sold separately.

Should I choose the ZH520 over a lower-lumen model for a living-room screen?

At 5500 lumens the ZH520 keeps a 1080p image vivid with some ambient light, whereas models below 1000 lumens need a darkened room for comparable punch.
