12X BD Burner for 5.25" Bays

This internal SATA Blu-ray burner writes BD-R at 12X and reads BD-ROM at 6X. It also handles DVD and CD media, including dual-layer discs. The black front panel fits a standard 5.25" drive tray in desktop systems. The drive arrives as a bare OEM unit without cables or mounting screws.

Upgrading from DVD-Only Writers

The jump is worth it when you need to archive data to single or dual-layer Blu-ray media or play high-definition movie discs. DVD-only drives cannot write BD-R or BD-RE formats, so this unit adds that capability. It supports the same DVD and CD speeds you already use, so existing discs remain fully compatible.

Suits Desktop Builders with 5.25" Space

This drive suits PC builders who have an open 5.25" bay and a free SATA port on the motherboard. It is not for laptops, slimline chassis or systems lacking a 5.25" opening. Buyers who need bundled burning or playback software should obtain that separately, as none is included.

What SATA connections are required during installation?

Connect the drive to a free SATA data port on the motherboard and attach a SATA power cable from the power supply; no cables or screws are included in the box.

How often will the laser need cleaning or replacement?
