Portable SSD for mobile professionals

The Orico B5PLUS provides 256GB of external storage in a leather-textured plastic enclosure that resists fingerprints and scratches. A blue colourway and an integrated light hole give the drive a distinctive appearance. The drive connects through a Type-C interface and is aimed at professionals, photographers, creators, gamers and students who need reliable portable capacity.

Passive cooling with modest power draw

The solid-state design has no moving parts, so it runs silently and generates minimal heat during typical file transfers. Power is drawn directly from the host USB port, removing the need for an external adapter. Sequential reads reach up to 460MB/s and writes up to 450MB/s over the USB 3.2 link.

Bundled 2-in-1 cable and silicone strap

A USB-C to USB-C/A cable is included, allowing connection to both Type-C and legacy Type-A ports without extra adapters. A silicone strap attaches to the drive for convenient carrying or tethering. No additional software utilities are mentioned in the specifications.

Questions about this item

How do I install the B5PLUS 256GB and which USB-C cable orientation avoids a loose connection?

Connect the supplied USB-C-to-C/A cable to a USB 3.2 Type-C port; the reversible plug seats fully only when the metal tongue clicks into the port recess.

What part of the 256GB drive will need replacement first under heavy daily writes?

The NAND flash cells rated for the 450 MB/s sustained write limit wear out before the controller or the leather-textured plastic enclosure.

At what throughput does the B5PLUS 256GB throttle during a long 460 MB/s sequential transfer?

Thermal limits of the 2.72 × 2.44 × 0.5 cm enclosure drop sustained speed to the 450 MB/s write ceiling after several minutes.
