Portable M.2 SATA enclosure

This silver aluminium enclosure converts a single M.2 SATA SSD into a USB 3.2 Gen 2 external drive. It accepts 2280 modules with B key or B+M key and is not compatible with NVMe devices. The included dual-headed cable provides USB-C to A and USB-C to C connections for broad host compatibility.

Sustained transfer behaviour

The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface supports a theoretical throughput of 480 MB/s, matching the 6 Gbps SATA link speed of the installed SSD. UASP and TRIM pass-through maintain consistent performance during long sequential reads or writes rather than throttling after a short burst.

Thermals and power

The all-aluminium chassis acts as a cooling vest that wraps the SSD on all sides, while CNC-cut stripes increase the surface area for heat dissipation. No fan is present, so operation is silent and power draw is limited to what the host USB port supplies.

Questions about this item

Does the aluminum enclosure stay cool when the M.2 SATA SSD runs continuously?

The all-aluminum case and included cooling vest wrap the drive to conduct heat away during sustained use.

What SSD keying and size must I already have for this enclosure to work?

It accepts M.2 2280 drives with B-key or B+M-key SATA interfaces only.

Will the included 2-in-1 USB cable work with my older USB-A ports?

Yes, the cable provides both USB-C to USB-A and USB-C to USB-C connectors for legacy and modern ports.
