OWC 32GB DDR3 1333 ECC Registered Kit

This 32GB kit contains two 16GB DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 modules built for HP ProLiant blade servers. It targets administrators maintaining BL460c G7, BL490c G7, BL620c Gen7, BL680c Gen7 or BL685c Gen7 systems that require registered ECC memory. The modules operate at 1.5V with CL9 latency and a 2Rx4 organisation.

DDR3 1333 registered ECC constraints

Registered DIMMs add a clock cycle of buffering that stabilises large memory arrays but prevents use in standard desktop boards. Mixing these modules with unbuffered memory is not supported and will cause boot failures. The 1333 MT/s JEDEC ceiling limits throughput compared to newer DDR generations, so the kit suits legacy platforms only.

Straightforward blade-server installation

Each 240-pin module seats in the server's DIMM slots using the standard ejection levers; no heat spreader means a low profile for dense blade chassis. Common errors include populating slots in the wrong population order or leaving a mismatched rank configuration, both of which halt POST on these ProLiant models.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 2x16GB kit or a single 32GB module?

This kit provides 32GB total across two 16GB modules, which enables dual-channel operation on the supported ProLiant servers.

What does the DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 rating mean for actual server performance?

The modules run at 1333 MT/s with a peak bandwidth of 10600 MB/s per channel, matching the JEDEC standard for these ProLiant platforms.

Will the 240-pin DDR3 ECC Registered interface work in my HP ProLiant BL460c G7?

Yes, the 240-pin DDR3 ECC Registered RDIMM design is exactly what the BL460c G7 and the other listed ProLiant models require.
