HP ProLiant Server Memory Kit

This OWC kit supplies 32GB of DDR3 ECC Registered RDIMM memory across four 8GB modules. It is built for HP ProLiant SL165s G7, SL170s G6, SL335s G7, SL390s G7 and WS460c G6 servers. The modules run at 1333MHz with CL9 latency and 1.5V voltage. This memory will not work in standard desktop computers and cannot be mixed with unbuffered DIMMs.

Thermals and Power at 1.5V

Each module operates at the standard DDR3 1.5V level without a heat spreader. Registered buffering reduces electrical load on the server memory controller during sustained workloads. The 2Rx4 organisation helps maintain signal integrity across all four populated slots. No active cooling is required beyond normal server airflow.

Replaces Nine HP Part Numbers

The kit directly replaces HP part numbers 500205071, 500205171, 500206071, 500662B21, 501536001, 593913B21, A0R56A, FX622AA and FX622UT. OWC tests every module in-house and backs the kit with a limited lifetime warranty and free technical support. Buyers who need unbuffered memory or desktop compatibility should choose a different product.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 240-pin DDR3 ECC RDIMM modules in the HP ProLiant SL165s G7 and what step is often missed?

Power down the server, open the chassis, align each module's notch with the slot key, press firmly until both retention clips click, then verify in BIOS that all 32GB are recognised; the step often missed is populating slots in the exact channel order shown in the server's service guide.

What maintenance or replacement will the registered ECC RDIMM kit need over its service life?

The modules have no heat spreaders and no moving parts, so no scheduled maintenance is required; replacement is only necessary if a DIMM fails POST or reports correctable ECC errors that exceed the platform's threshold.

What limit appears first when the 1333 MHz CL9 1.5 V registered DIMMs run sustained workloads?

The memory controller's maximum supported bandwidth at DDR3 1333 and the 1.5 V thermal envelope are the first limits; sustained heavy traffic will saturate bus throughput before the modules themselves throttle.
