This OWC kit supplies 32 GB of DDR3L ECC registered memory in four 8 GB modules. It is built for Lenovo Flex System x280 X6, x480 X6 and x880 X6 servers and workstations that require registered DIMMs. Standard desktop boards cannot use these modules.

Registered DIMM difference

The modules are registered and ECC enabled, so they reduce electrical load on the memory controller and correct single-bit errors. They cannot be mixed with unbuffered memory and will not function in consumer platforms that lack registered support.
