48GB DDR3 ECC memory kit with six 8GB modules at 1333MHz CL9 for 2009-2012 Mac Pro models
Capacity 48GB (6 x 8GB)
This 48GB kit contains six 8GB DDR3 1333MHz ECC DIMMs built to JEDEC PC3-10600 CL9 specifications. It targets owners of Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1 models who need the maximum supported memory for virtualisation, large creative projects or scientific workloads. The modules include Mac-qualified thermal sensor EEPROMs for full fan-control compatibility.
The kit replaces any PC3-8500 1066MHz modules and runs at the native 1333MHz speed of 2010-2012 Mac Pro 5,1 systems. On 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 models the memory operates at 1066MHz, still providing the capacity increase. The jump is worthwhile when your current 12GB or 24GB configuration forces swapping during multi-VM or video-timeline work.
Six populated slots deliver the full 48GB that the Mac Pro memory controller addresses, leaving no empty sockets for future expansion. The CL9 latency and 1.5V operation match the platform’s design limits, so bandwidth scales with CPU core count up to the 12-core 3.33GHz configurations. Workloads exceeding 48GB must move to a newer architecture.

Other versions of this model
The modules fit Mac Pro models MacPro4,1 and MacPro5,1 from 2009 through 2012, including quad-core, 8-core and 12-core configurations.
Populate the four slots on the first riser card before adding modules to the second riser; the system will not recognise memory placed out of sequence.
Open System Report on macOS and confirm each DIMM shows ECC status as enabled; the thermal sensor EEPROM also reports temperature to the SMC.
