OWC USB4 40Gb/s Active Optical Cable 3.0m

This cable provides a 40Gb/s USB4 connection over a 3.0m length using active optical technology. It links compatible computers to high-resolution displays such as the Apple Pro Display XDR, Studio Display or LG Ultrafine monitors. The optical design maintains full bandwidth across the longer distance without the signal loss typical of passive copper cables. It is built for professional capture, creation and collaboration workflows.

Suits distant display setups, not short runs

This cable suits users who need to place a supported monitor far from the host computer while keeping maximum throughput. It is not intended for buyers who only require a short desk-length connection where a passive cable would suffice. It also does not serve setups that rely on interfaces or protocols other than USB4. Check your device ports to confirm compatibility before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the optical components in the 3.0m cable need replacement over time?

The cable uses active optical technology with no user-serviceable parts; it is designed to operate for the life of the product without maintenance.

What bandwidth limit appears first when driving a display at 40Gb/s continuously?

The 40Gb/s rated throughput is the sustained limit; the active optical design maintains this speed over the full 3.0m length without copper-cable degradation.
