1/87 Scale Railway Express Van

This Oxford Diecast model replicates a 1950 Chevrolet Panel Van in Railway Express Agency dark green livery at 1/87 (HO) scale. It is made of diecast metal with some plastic parts and measures approximately 2.25 inches long. The model arrives in the manufacturer's original unopened packaging inside a plastic display showcase. It is intended for adult collectors and hobby enthusiasts.

Officially Licensed Detailing

The officially licensed product features true-to-scale detail on both the interior and exterior surfaces. No doors, hood or other panels open, so the finished appearance remains fixed. The plastic display showcase protects the model while allowing clear viewing from multiple angles. These bundled elements preserve the collectible condition without requiring separate display cases.

Ready-to-Display Installation

The model requires no assembly; it is removed from the showcase and placed directly on a layout or shelf. Because the van has no openings, there are no loose parts to lose or misalign during handling. The only common issue is the small 1/87 size, which demands careful fingers when positioning the piece on detailed scenery.

Questions about this item

Will the diecast metal body or plastic parts need any maintenance to keep the Railway Express Agency finish looking fresh?

The model is made of diecast metal with some plastic parts and arrives in a sealed plastic showcase; no routine maintenance is required beyond occasional dusting of the display case.

What is the first limit you hit when displaying this 1/87 scale van continuously under light?

At 2.25 inches long the van is small enough that shelf space or UV exposure to the dark green paint will be the practical limits rather than any structural issue.

Does the sealed showcase or the diecast construction generate any heat or noise when the model sits on a layout all day?

The model has no moving parts, electronics or openings, so it produces no heat and no noise regardless of how long it remains on display.
