15-piece German stainless steel knife set

This 15-piece cutlery set from OXO supplies every essential blade for daily cooking tasks. The collection includes an 8-inch chef knife, 8-inch slicing knife, 8-inch serrated bread knife, 7-inch santoku knife, 5-inch utility knife, 3.5-inch paring knife, six 4.5-inch steak knives and kitchen shears. A black hardwood block with a built-in sharpener stores and protects each piece.

Dishwasher-safe blades with Teflon coating

Each knife is forged from German 1.4116 stainless steel and finished with an anti-rust, anti-stick, anti-oxidant Teflon coating. The manufacturer states the set has been tested to remain in top condition after repeated dishwasher cycles. Polypropylene handles are shaped for a comfortable grip during extended use.

Built-in sharpener integrated into the block

The hardwood storage block incorporates a sharpening slot so every blade can be honed without a separate stone or tool. This feature suits cooks who want on-demand edge maintenance but is not a substitute for professional sharpening when knives become heavily worn.

Questions about this item

How do I install the built-in sharpener in the black hardwood block and what step do people miss?

The sharpener is already integrated into the block; the step users miss is pulling each blade through the slot at the correct angle before first use.

What maintenance will the German 1.4116 stainless steel blades and Teflon coating need later?

Hand-wash to preserve the anti-rust coating; the built-in sharpener maintains edges so no separate stone is required.

Which limit appears first during sustained cutting — edge retention or handle fatigue?

The polypropylene handles are shaped for long sessions, so the 1.4116 steel edge will need a pass through the built-in sharpener before the grip tires.
