What this product is

This is a 12-pack of Panasonic BR-1632/HFN lithium coin cell batteries. Each cell delivers 3 volts and measures 16 mm by 3.2 mm with horizontal PC pins for direct board mounting. The chemistry provides a shelf life of up to 10 years.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

These cells suit designs that require a pinned BR1632 footprint for memory backup or real-time clocks. They do not suit devices that accept only button-top CR1632 cells without pins, nor applications needing a different diameter or voltage.

Installation and common issues

The horizontal pins are soldered straight onto the PCB, so no holder or socket is required. The main issue is applying excessive heat during soldering, which can damage the seal and reduce the 10-year shelf life. Ensure correct polarity before soldering.

Questions about this item

What device or circuit board does the BR-1632/HFN pin-terminated battery solder into?

The battery has PC pins for horizontal mount, so it solders directly onto a PCB designed for a CR1632 footprint with through-hole pin spacing.

Can I use these pin-type cells in a holder that takes standard flat CR1632 coins?

No, the horizontal pins replace the flat contacts, so the cells only fit boards with matching through-hole pads, not spring or clip holders.

How do I confirm each cell is delivering the rated 3 V after installation?

Measure across the pins with a multimeter set to DC volts; a fresh cell should read very close to 3 V under no load.
