Compact rugged laptop for mobile work

The Panasonic CF-S10 Toughbook is a 12.1-inch laptop built with a magnesium alloy chassis rated for drops up to 30 inches and a spill-resistant keyboard. It runs Windows 8 Pro on an Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 2.5GHz with 8GB of DDR3 1333 memory and a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive. The WXGA LED display delivers a 1280 x 800 resolution in a non-touch format.

Suits field staff needing durability

This unit fits professionals who require a lightweight yet rugged device with a built-in optical drive, VGA and HDMI outputs, and a fingerprint reader for security. The integrated GOBI broadband module supports mobile connectivity where Wi-Fi is unavailable. Buyers who need a touchscreen, solid-state storage, or a modern operating system beyond Windows 8 Pro should consider other options.

Accessories extend connectivity

The included power adapter ensures immediate operation without sourcing a proprietary charger separately. The DVD Super Multi drive allows reading and writing legacy media for software installation or data archiving in environments without reliable network access. Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11a/b/g/n wireless provide peripheral and network compatibility for existing infrastructure.

Questions about this item

Does this laptop need an external display or dock to start working?

No, the 12.1" WXGA LED panel at 1280 x 800 and the spill-resistant keyboard are built in, so it works standalone with the included power adapter.

Can I keep using my USB 2.0 flash drives and VGA projector with the three USB ports and video outputs?

Yes, the three USB ports support both USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices, and the laptop provides analog VGA plus digital HDMI video outputs for older projectors.

How do I verify the Gobi broadband and fingerprint reader are active after setup?

Open Device Manager and confirm the Gobi2000 mobile broadband adapter and the fingerprint sensor appear without errors; the fingerprint control panel will then let you enroll a finger.
