15 mm f/1.7 Micro Four Thirds lens

The Panasonic Lumix G Leica DG Summilux 15 mm f/1.7 is a prime lens for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Its 15 mm focal length gives a 30 mm equivalent field of view suited to street, documentary and environmental portrait work. The bright f/1.7 maximum aperture supports low-light shooting and shallow depth of field control. It is built for photographers who want a compact, fast normal-wide prime.

Installation and common issues

The lens mounts directly on any Micro Four Thirds body with no adapter required. Its stepping AF motor delivers fast, quiet autofocus and the internal focusing design keeps the barrel from extending during focus. The 46 mm filter thread accepts standard screw-in filters and a hood. The manual aperture ring clicks at each stop; video shooters should note it is not de-clicked for silent iris pulls.

Capacity and headroom

The f/1.7 aperture provides strong low-light capability and subject separation on Micro Four Thirds sensors. At 15 mm the lens covers a wide-angle perspective equivalent to 30 mm on full frame, useful for interiors and environmental scenes. It is not a telephoto or macro optic, so distant compression and high-magnification close-ups are outside its range. The 0.64 kg weight keeps the kit light for all-day carry.
