A 45mm macro lens with f/2.8 aperture and built-in stabiliser, equivalent to 90mm on 35mm format, that focuses from 150mm to 500mm for life-size close-ups and medium telephoto work
The Panasonic Lumix G Leica DG Macro-Elmar 45mm f/2.8 ASPH. is a macro lens designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. It provides a 45mm focal length with a maximum aperture of f/2.8. The lens suits photographers who want life-size close-up capability and a medium telephoto perspective for portraits or landscapes.
The optical construction uses fourteen elements in ten groups, including one aspherical and one ED lens. An inner focus micromotor drives autofocus smoothly and silently for both stills and video. Minimum focus distance can be set to either 150mm or 500mm, limiting how close you can work without switching the range limiter.
This single lens covers 1:1 macro reproduction and a 90mm equivalent field of view, removing the need to carry a dedicated macro prime and a short telephoto prime. The jump is worth it when you regularly switch between close-up detail work and portrait or landscape shooting, but it does not replace a longer telephoto for distant subjects.

They are the same optic; 45mm is the actual focal length and 90mm is the 35mm-format equivalent, so choose based on whether you think in Micro Four Thirds or full-frame terms.
You can place the front of the lens 150mm from the subject and still achieve 1:1 life-size reproduction, which is the closest working distance this lens allows.
The mount gives a 2× crop factor, so the 45mm lens frames like a 90mm lens on a 35mm camera, making it a short telephoto for portraits as well as a macro tool.
