The Panasonic LUMIX S PRO 70-200mm F4 is a constant-aperture zoom lens built for LUMIX S Series full-frame mirrorless cameras. It carries Leica certification and covers a versatile 70-200mm focal range suited to portrait, event and sports photography. A double focus system with linear and stepping motors drives the sensor at up to 480 fps for responsive autofocus. Dust, splash and freeze resistance supports use in demanding outdoor conditions.

Optical Stabilisation Limits and Body Coordination

Optical Image Stabilisation in the lens works with compatible LUMIX bodies to deliver 5-Axis Dual I.S. 2 performance, rated at up to 6 stops of shake correction under the CIPA yaw and pitch standard. This coordination functions specifically with the S1R and S1 camera models as of February 2019. The lens-based O.I.S. also operates independently to reduce hand-shake blur when shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds without a tripod.

Upgrading from Variable-Aperture

Photographers moving from slower variable-aperture telephoto zooms or lenses lacking optical stabilisation gain a constant F4 aperture throughout the zoom range and coordinated dual stabilisation. The 23-element, 17-group design with one aspherical and three ED elements controls chromatic aberration for consistent edge-to-edge sharpness. Focus breathing suppression makes the lens practical for video work where focal-length shift during focus pulls must be minimised. The focus clutch enables instant switching between autofocus and precise manual control.
