Compact mirrorless camera for hybrid creators

The Panasonic LUMIX S1II combines a 24.1MP full-frame partially stacked CMOS sensor with an L Mount for interchangeable lenses. It targets photographers and filmmakers who need high-resolution stills and cinema-grade video in a single body. The 779-point Phase Hybrid AF with AI subject recognition tracks fast action reliably. Dynamic Range Boost and REAL TIME LUT provide rich gradations straight from the camera.

Workflow apps extend creative control

LUMIX Lab, LUMIX Flow, Frame.io Camera to Cloud and Capture One integration let you edit, share and manage files across devices without a computer bottleneck. HEIF capture and High Resolution mode deliver 96MP-equivalent images even when shooting handheld. Apple ProRes recording and versatile format options give editors professional-grade footage ready for colour grading. These tools turn the camera into a connected production hub rather than a standalone capture device.

Sensor readout speed defines video ceiling

The partially stacked sensor enables 5.1K 60p open gate recording, oversampled 4K and C4K/4K 120p high frame rates, but rolling-shutter performance and maximum recording times are governed by that readout architecture. 8.0-stop 5-axis I.S. with Active I.S. steadies handheld and walking shots, yet extreme motion or very long focal lengths can exceed its correction range. AFC burst reaches 70 fps with blackout-free viewing, though buffer depth and card write speed will limit sustained runs.

Questions about this item

How long will the mechanical shutter last before it needs replacement?

The camera uses a partially stacked 24.1MP sensor enabling high-speed readout, and AFC burst shooting reaches 70 fps with blackout-free viewing, reducing mechanical wear.

What stops continuous 5.1K 60p recording first — heat or buffer?

The newly developed sensor unlocks 5.1K 60p open gate recording with high-speed readout, designed for sustained cinematic capture.

How loud is the fan and how hot does the body get during all-day 5.1K shooting?

Advanced 5-axis I.S. with 8.0-stop stabilization and Active I.S. keeps footage steady while walking, and the sensor design supports extended high-resolution recording.
