Fully rugged 13.1" laptop for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 is a fully rugged laptop built to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards. It runs Windows 10 Pro on a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 MK2 single-core processor with 4 GB of DDR3 800 memory. The 13.1 inch XGA touchscreen offers 1024 x 768 resolution and includes a digitiser pen for precise input in outdoor conditions.

Certified chassis with integrated LTE and legacy

The magnesium-alloy casing survives drops, vibration, dust and water jets, making it suitable for vehicle mounting or handheld use. A Verizon 4G LTE modem provides mobile connectivity alongside Gigabit LAN, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. The 160 GB hard drive and optical-drive bay support legacy software and data archives common in industrial environments.

Replaces ageing rugged units lacking modern wireless

This model upgrades fleets still running older Toughbooks that lack 4G LTE or Windows 10 Pro support. The jump is worth it when field teams need current OS security patches and carrier-certified mobile broadband without changing existing docking stations. Buyers who need solid-state storage or multi-core performance for heavy database work should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What speed does the Gigabit Ethernet port cap at in practice?

The 10/100/1000Mbps LAN tops out at 1000Mbps when connected to a Gigabit switch or router with Cat5e or better cabling.

What mounting hardware fits the CF-31 for vehicle or desk use?

Six generations of consistent docking compatibility mean existing Toughbook 31 vehicle docks, desk stands and port replicators bolt on without modification.

How do you insert the digitizer pen, and what step do people miss?

Slide the pen into the dedicated garage until it clicks; the click confirms the spring latch has engaged so the pen will not fall out during transport.
