Drop-ceiling entrance end for LD5 raceway

The Panduit DCF5IW-X fitting connects LD5 surface raceway to a drop-ceiling space, letting cable run directly from above. Its off-white ABS construction meets UL94V-0 and FT4 flammability ratings and satisfies TIA/EIA and CSA standards. Installers use it when a clean ceiling transition is required for low-voltage pathways.

Snap-on installation with raceway alignment

The fitting snaps onto the LD5 raceway without tools, but the channel must be cut square and deburred so the tabs engage fully. A common issue is forcing the snap before the raceway sits flush, which can crack the ABS housing or leave a gap that fails inspection. Verify the raceway profile matches the LD5 spec before pressing home.

Compact profile for standard ceiling tiles

At 2.25 in high, 3.42 in long and 1.6 in wide, the entrance end fits typical ceiling-grid openings and handles the cable fill allowed by the LD5 system. It runs out of room when bundle diameter approaches the raceway's maximum fill limit, so larger trunking or a junction box is needed beyond that point.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the DCF5IW-X is installed correctly after snapping it onto the LD5 raceway?

A secure snap-on fit with no visible gaps between the fitting and the LD5 raceway shows it is seated properly. The off-white ABS plastic should sit flush against the ceiling tile, and the 2.25 inch height matches the raceway profile for a continuous run.

What comes with the DCF5IW-X and what else do I need to complete the drop-ceiling entry?

The package contains the single off-white entrance end fitting made of PVC. You must purchase the LD5 surface raceway separately, along with any mounting hardware or cable required for your specific installation.

Which version of this entrance end should I choose for a standard LD5 raceway installation?

The DCF5IW-X is the specific model designed for LD5 raceway. Its 3.42 inch length, 1.6 inch width, and UL94V-0 rated PVC construction match the system requirements, so no other version or capacity option applies.
