Paper Mate Comfortmate Ultra Pencil Starter Set

The Paper Mate 1738796 Comfortmate Ultra Pencil Starter Set contains two mechanical pencils in black and red. Each pencil uses 0.7 mm lead for everyday writing and drafting tasks. The set suits students, office workers and anyone needing reliable mechanical pencils for general use. It is not intended for technical drawing that requires finer line widths or specialised lead grades.

Practical limits of 0.7 mm mechanical pencils

A 0.7 mm tip produces a consistent line suited to standard handwriting and basic sketches. The fixed diameter limits precision for detailed diagrams or small annotations. Lead advance mechanisms on mechanical pencils can jam if debris enters the sleeve or if the lead is extended too far. Users who need variable line weights or very fine detail will find this format restrictive.

Installation ease and common issues

The pencils are ready to use straight from the pack with no assembly required. Loading replacement lead involves removing the cap and inserting fresh 0.7 mm sticks into the barrel. The most frequent problem is lead breakage inside the sleeve, which clears by tapping the pencil or advancing a new piece. Over-extending the lead increases breakage risk and can misalign the internal clutch.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 0.70 mm version or a different lead size?

This starter set includes two pencils with 0.70 mm lead, a standard width suited to everyday writing and general note-taking.

What does the 0.70 mm lead width mean for daily use?

The 0.70 mm point produces a consistent medium line that resists breaking under normal pressure, making it practical for forms, lists and extended writing sessions.

Does the Comfortmate Ultra use a proprietary refill system?

The pencils accept standard 0.70 mm mechanical pencil refills, so replacements are widely available from office-supply retailers.
