Product Identity

The Pentel 509HBBX is a box of 180 black lead refills sized at .9 mm for mechanical pencils. The Super Hi-Polymer formulation yields crisp, dark lines with consistent density and smoothness. Each tube of 12 pieces writes as far as a full wooden pencil. The leads are new and ready for immediate use.

Suitability

Students, drafters and office workers who prefer a bold .9 mm line will find the 180-count box economical and long-lasting. Users who need finer points such as .5 mm or .7 mm for detailed technical drawings should look at other refills. Artists wanting coloured leads or softer grades are not served by this single black, bold option.

Installation & Common Issues

Refilling is straightforward: open the pencil barrel, drop the leads into the reservoir and close it. The most common issue is jamming caused by overfilling the tube or mixing different lead diameters. Snapping can occur if excessive pressure is applied while writing, despite the super-strong polymer construction.
