The Perle IOLAN STS4 P provides four RJ45 serial ports for out-of-band console access to routers, switches and firewalls. It connects to the LAN over a 10/100 Ethernet link and draws power through 802.3af PoE, so no separate mains adapter is required. The compact chassis can sit on a desktop or be secured to a wall.

Simple PoE-powered installation with minimal cabling

Connect the single Ethernet cable to a PoE-enabled switch port and the unit powers up immediately. Attach up to four managed devices using standard RS232 serial cables wired to the RJ45 connectors. Common issues are mismatched pinouts on the serial leads or a switch port that does not supply PoE, which leaves the unit without power.
