A 100Base-SX SFP transceiver with an LC connector for fibre networking
The Perle 05058970 is a Small Form Pluggable transceiver built for 100Base-SX fibre links. It serves network administrators extending legacy Fast Ethernet segments over multimode fibre. The LC duplex connector fits standard patch panels and switch cages without adapters.
The module maintains a constant 100 Mbps data rate across the 100Base-SX wavelength under continuous traffic. It does not negotiate higher speeds, so sustained loads stay predictable on existing 100 Mbps infrastructure. Eye-safety compliance supports long-term deployment in dense racks.
The SFP form factor allows insertion or removal without powering down the host switch or router. A latch-secured LC duplex port resists vibration in crowded cabinets. Metal housing shields the optical engine from EMI in mixed-copper environments.

The module operates at Fast Ethernet speed with a single LC interface and draws only the low power typical for 100Base-SX optics, so heat output stays minimal inside the chassis.
You need multimode fibre with LC connectors and a switch or server port that supports 100Base-SX at the same wavelength.
It uses the 100Base-SX standard over multimode fibre, which is not directly compatible with 100Base-FX optics, so a media converter would be required.
