Purpose & Audience

The Perle 05061060 C-100Mm-S2Sc40 is a Fast Ethernet media converter module designed for network operators who must link multimode and single-mode fibre segments. It translates 100BASE-FX signals at 1310 nm between an SC multimode interface rated for 2 km and an SC single-mode interface rated for 40 km.

Build Integration

The module occupies a single slot in a compatible Perle chassis, drawing power from the backplane so no external adapter is required. It provides two SC ports, freeing the installer from running separate transceivers for each fibre type and allowing a straightforward crossover between campus multimode runs and long-haul single-mode links.

Thermals, Noise & Power

With no moving parts the converter operates silently and adds negligible heat to the chassis enclosure. Power consumption is handled by the host chassis supply, so thermal load scales with the overall system rather than requiring dedicated cooling for this module alone.
