The Perle S-100Mm-S1Sc40U is a media converter built for network engineers who need to bridge multimode and single-mode fibre segments. It accepts 100BASE-FX signals at 1310 nm over SC multimode fibre and translates them to a 100Base-BX single-strand single-mode link using 1310 nm TX and 1550 nm RX wavelengths.

Multimode to 40 km single-mode reach

The multimode side covers distances up to 2 km or 1.2 miles, suitable for campus or building-backbone runs. The single-mode side extends the link to 40 km or 24.9 miles, giving ample headroom for metro or long-haul connections. Bandwidth is fixed at 100 Mbps, so the unit will not serve gigabit or 10-gigabit circuits.

Passive cooling with USA power cord

The converter ships with a USA power cord and relies on fanless convection cooling, so it adds no audible noise to a rack or cabinet. Power draw in normal operation is low enough for standard AC outlets without special circuits. No PoE or redundant power inputs are provided.
