100Base-BX-U SFP transceiver

The Perle S-110PP-S1ST20U is a single-fibre SFP transceiver that supports 100Base-BX-U and 10/100Base-T network technology. It includes a 100-240v AC power adapter for standalone operation. Network engineers use it to extend Ethernet links over one strand of single-mode fibre.

Sustained link behaviour

The module maintains a steady 100 Mbps full-duplex connection across the 20 km BX-U wavelength pair without the throughput drops seen in short burst tests. Continuous traffic flows keep the link stable because the onboard circuitry is rated for constant line-rate operation. The external AC adapter supplies uninterrupted power for long-term deployment.

Upgrade path and fit

This transceiver replaces a pair of standard dual-fibre 100Base-FX modules when only one fibre strand is available. The jump is worth it when existing cabling cannot accommodate a second strand or when a media converter chassis is not an option. It does not serve links that require gigabit speeds or longer than 20 km reach.
