This unit replaces a direct copper run when the 100 m limit is reached or electrical isolation is required. The jump is worth it when the link must span up to 550 m over multimode fibre while delivering PoE power to the remote device.

Distance and Frame Headroom

The converter handles Gigabit frames up to 10,240 bytes and Fast Ethernet frames up to 2,048 bytes across the 550 m fibre segment. It runs out when the required distance exceeds the 550 m multimode reach or when single-mode fibre is specified.
