Philips Hue 5M Outdoor LightStrip

The Philips Hue 555912 is a 5 metre smart light strip built for exterior use. It delivers colour-changing illumination for gardens, patios or architectural highlights. Homeowners who want app-driven scenes and voice control will find it fits a Hue ecosystem. Buyers without a Hue Bridge cannot use the advanced automations or remote access.

16 million colours with Bridge limits

The strip produces 16 million colours plus tunable white light for everyday ambience or holiday themes. It connects via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, yet the manufacturer states a Hue Bridge is required to unlock full automations, away-from-home control and a stable connection that does not load the home Wi-Fi. Without the Bridge the feature set is reduced. An outdoor power supply is also sold separately and must be purchased before installation.

Voice assistants and Matter integration

Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit compatibility allow voice commands for on/off, brightness and colour changes once the system is configured in the Hue app. Matter support lets the strip join wider smart-home setups without extra hubs. The plug-and-play design simplifies mounting, but the separate power supply and mandatory Bridge mean the starter cost is higher than the strip alone.

Questions about this item

Will the 5M Outdoor LightStrip work with my existing Hue Bridge and other Hue lights?

Yes, it connects to the Hue Bridge via Zigbee so it appears in the same app and can be grouped with any other Hue lamps you already own.

How can I verify the 5M Outdoor LightStrip is functioning correctly after installation?

Open the Hue app, select the strip, and run a colour-cycle scene; the LEDs should shift smoothly through 16 million colours and white tones without flicker.

Does the 555912 package include the Hue Bridge and outdoor power supply, or must I buy them separately?

The box contains only the 5-metre light strip; a Hue Bridge and a Hue outdoor power supply are both sold separately and are required for operation.
