Philips Hue Play 2-pack

Two smart light bars create a wash of colour across walls or behind screens. Each bar outputs 530 lumens from a 42 W equivalent LED source. They connect to a Hue Bridge via ZigBee for app and voice control. The pack includes a power supply that can drive up to three bars.

ZigBee bridge requirement limits standalone use

Without the separate Hue Bridge the bars cannot join Alexa, HomeKit or Google Home ecosystems. The bridge adds the ZigBee coordinator that translates commands from those platforms. Buyers who want plug-and-play Wi-Fi or Bluetooth lights cannot use this kit as-is. A single power supply feeds up to three bars, so expansion beyond that needs another supply.

Compact bars mount behind TVs or on walls

Each bar measures 1.40 by 1.70 by 10.00 inches and weighs 1.565 pounds, light enough for adhesive or screw brackets. The low-profile shape fits in tight gaps behind displays. Dimmable output ranges from 2000 to 6500 kelvin plus 16 million colours rated for 25000 hours. Buyers needing waterproof outdoor bars or built-in batteries must look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 2-pack or add a third bar later?

Each power supply handles up to three bars, so the 2-pack leaves room for one more on the same plug.

What does 530 lumens look like on a living-room wall?

530 lm equals a 42 W traditional bulb, giving a bright colour wash behind a TV or along a shelf.

ZigBee through the Hue Hub — what does that limit?

The hub (model 458471) is required; it links the bars to Alexa, HomeKit or Google Assistant for voice and automation.
