Compact RGB panel for on-camera work

The PICTRON VL120 RGB video light packs 120 lamp beads into a 10.6 cm by 6.6 cm body that is 1.5 cm thick. It delivers 0 to 360° full-colour RGB output, 2500 to 9000 K colour temperature and 0 to 100 % dimming. A built-in 3100 mAh battery runs up to 2 hours at maximum brightness or 15 hours at minimum, and charges in about 2 hours via Type-C while the light stays on. A silicone diffuser softens the beam and peak illuminance reaches 1250 lux at .3 m with a CRI of 95+.

Videographers needing portable colour effects

Creators who want a pocket-sized panel for interview fill, product close-ups or creative accent lighting will appreciate the 20 built-in effects such as lightning, fire and pulsing modes switched with one button. The cold-shoe mount and LCD screen make it quick to adjust on the move. Shooters who require all-day output at high brightness, wireless app control or mains-only operation should consider larger AC-powered fixtures instead.

3100 mAh internal battery sets runtime

The single figure that decides suitability is the 3100 mAh capacity: it fixes maximum runtime at 2 hours on full power and 15 hours on low power, with a 2-hour recharge cycle. If your typical shoot exceeds those limits without access to a USB-C power source, this panel will not cover the session.

Questions about this item

Will the VL120 RGB's 120 lamp beads and 1250 LUX at .3 meters overpower the older tungsten panels I still use for fill?

At .3 meters the VL120 RGB delivers 1250 LUX from 120 beads with CRI 95+, so it can serve as key or fill alongside tungsten; match the 2500-9000 K CCT range to your panels' colour temperature for consistent white balance.

How do I confirm the VL120 RGB is operating correctly after first charge?

Charge for 5-10 minutes, unplug and re-plug to activate the battery, then power on; the LCD screen should show mode, brightness 0-100%, colour temperature 2500-9000 K and the selected effect number 1-20.

What ships in the box and what must I buy separately to mount and power the VL120 RGB?

Included: VL120 RGB light, silicone diffuser, Type-C charging cable, cold-shoe mount and manual. The cold shoe fits standard camera brackets; any USB-C power source can charge or run the light while shooting.
