Automatic iPhone backup drive

The PIODATA iXflash Cube is a 512GB USB flash drive built for iPhone and iPad users who want local backups without a computer. It connects via USB Type-C and carries Apple MFi certification, so the drive works directly with the Lightning or USB-C port on supported iOS devices. The companion app handles the transfer while the device charges.

Sustained backup behaviour

When the iPhone or iPad is plugged in for charging, the drive automatically backs up all photos and videos, including those stored in iCloud when Wi-Fi is available. The software skips files already present on the cube, so repeated sessions only add new content. Dark mode in the app reduces power draw during long overnight transfers.

Upgrade path and limits

This drive replaces manual computer syncs and cloud-only strategies for people who prefer a physical copy they control. It is not suited for users who need to back up Android devices, transfer large non-media files, or work with a USB-A host without an adapter. The single-user folder separation helps families share one cube, but the 512GB capacity sets a hard ceiling for large libraries.

Questions about this item

Does the iXflash Cube 512GB generate noticeable heat or noise while running a full-day backup?

The device has no moving parts and draws power only during active USB-C transfers, so it stays silent and barely warm even after hours of continuous backup.

What must I already own for the iXflash Cube 512GB to work with my iPhone?

You need an iPhone or iPad with a USB-C port, the free iXflash Cube app installed, and a Wi-Fi connection if you want iCloud photos included in the backup.

Can I keep using the iXflash Cube 512GB with an older Lightning iPhone I still have?

The Cube uses a USB-C connector, so it cannot plug directly into a Lightning iPhone; you would need a separate USB-C to Lightning adapter, which is not included.
