Pioneer DEH-S6220BS CD Receiver

The Pioneer DEH-S6220BS is a CD receiver designed for drivers who want to upgrade their factory stereo with modern connectivity. It fits a standard single-DIN dashboard opening and adds built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling and wireless audio streaming. iPhone and Android users gain voice control support and dual phone connection for seamless device switching. The detachable face provides a basic security deterrent when the vehicle is parked.

Bluetooth and app integration limits

Built-in Bluetooth handles calls and music streaming but does not support high-resolution codecs or multi-device audio output beyond the dual phone link. Alexa features require the Pioneer Smart Sync app running on a paired smartphone with an active data connection; the receiver has no embedded voice assistant. Satellite radio access depends on a separate subscription and antenna kit not included with the unit. The 13-band graphic equalizer expands to 31-band adjustment only through the app interface.

Upgrading from basic factory stereos

This receiver replaces a basic factory head unit that lacks Bluetooth, app control or expandable audio outputs. The jump is worth it when you need 22W x 4 continuous power with 50W x 4 peak, six-channel 4V pre-outs for external amplifiers, and 210000 customizable display colors with dual-zone lighting. It is not for buyers who want a double-DIN touchscreen, built-in navigation, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as none of those features are present.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 22W or 50W rating for my speakers?

The 22W x 4 continuous figure is the real-world output you will hear daily; the 50W x 4 peak is a short-term maximum that only occurs on brief transients.

What does 210000 colors mean on the actual display?

It lets you match the dual-zone backlight to your dashboard lighting with 210,000 selectable shades across two independent zones.

How many RCA pre-outs does the 6220 provide and what voltage do they deliver?

The unit supplies six channels of 4V preamp outputs, giving a clean high-level signal to external amplifiers.
