6.8-inch WVGA Capacitive Touch Receiver

The Pioneer DMH-1770NEX is a 6.8-inch digital media receiver designed for drivers who want smartphone integration without a CD mechanism. It delivers wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, putting navigation, calls, messages and music on the capacitive touch panel. Built-in Bluetooth supports hands-free talking and audio streaming for iPhone and Android devices.

Installation and Common Issues

The unit fits a standard double-DIN dashboard opening and includes a wireless remote for optional control. Wired CarPlay and Android Auto require a physical USB connection to the smartphone, so cable routing behind the dash must be planned. Installers often forget to connect the parking-brake wire, which locks video playback and some touch functions until the brake is engaged.

Interface and Practical Limits

The 6.8-inch WVGA screen resolution sets the maximum detail level for maps and media artwork, and the display offers 5 colour themes with 112 key-illumination colours. Wired smartphone mirroring depends on the phone's own operating-system version and cable quality; wireless mirroring is not supported. The receiver does not play CDs or DVDs, limiting physical media to USB storage and streaming sources.

The screen should light up with one of five display colours and register taps instantly; test by opening Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and verifying icons launch without lag.

What comes in the box and what must I purchase separately for the DMH-1770NEX?

The receiver and a wireless remote are included; a backup camera, SiriusXM tuner and any vehicle-specific wiring harness or dash kit are sold separately.

Which version of the 1770 should I choose if I want both wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on a 6.8-inch display?

The DMH-1770NEX is the single model that delivers wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto and the 6.8-inch WVGA capacitive panel together.
