Modular 8.0" WXGA display

The Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX is a digital media receiver built around an 8.0" WXGA capacitive touchscreen on a modular chassis. It targets drivers who want smartphone integration and high-resolution audio playback from a single DIN opening. The shallow chassis eases installation in vehicles with limited dash depth. It suits daily commuters and road-trip enthusiasts alike.

Wired CarPlay and Android Auto

The single specification that decides fit is wired smartphone mirroring: both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a physical USB connection. There is no wireless projection option. Buyers who need cable-free CarPlay or wireless Android Auto must look elsewhere. The wired link does deliver low-latency navigation, messaging and music apps on the 8.0" screen.

Install needs and system gains

The modular chassis separates the display from the main unit, so you need a single-DIN cavity for the brain and a mounting location for the screen. A USB cable must reach your phone for CarPlay or Android Auto. The built-in 50 W x 4 MOSFET amplifier drives speakers directly, freeing you from adding an external amp for moderate listening levels. iDatalink Maestro compatibility retains factory steering-wheel controls and vehicle data on supported cars. HD Radio and satellite radio tuners are onboard, removing the need for separate tuner boxes.

Questions about this item

How does the 8.0" WXGA display look in a real dashboard?

The 8.0" WXGA capacitive screen sits on a modular chassis that can be adjusted to fit different dash openings, giving a clear, touch-responsive interface at a comfortable viewing angle.

What does the built-in 50 W x 4 amplifier actually deliver?

The internal MOSFET amp provides 50 watts per channel into four channels, enough to drive factory or aftermarket speakers directly without a separate amplifier for most listening levels.

What depth and mounting style does the modular chassis need?

The modular design separates the display from the main unit, so the chassis fits a standard double-DIN opening while the screen can be positioned to clear dash contours and HVAC controls.
