Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX Multimedia Receiver

The Pioneer DMH-C5500NEX is a digital multimedia receiver with an 8" capacitive touchscreen designed for drivers who want smartphone integration without a disc mechanism. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation, messaging, and music apps. Amazon Alexa is built-in when paired with the Pioneer Vozsis app. The unit includes a bullet camera for rear visibility.

Installation Notes

The receiver fits a standard double-DIN opening and connects through a rear USB input and two rear auxiliary inputs. A microphone is required for the Auto EQ and time alignment features but is not included in the box. Wiring for the bullet camera adds an extra step compared to a head unit alone. Ensure the dashboard cavity has enough depth for the chassis and cable routing.

Who This Suits

This system suits owners who stream audio from a phone and prefer a large touchscreen for maps and voice control. The 13-band graphic EQ and HD Radio tuner appeal to listeners who want tuning flexibility. Buyers who need CD or DVD playback should look elsewhere, as this model does not play discs. Drivers without a compatible smartphone will lose the core CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexa features.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the 8" capacitive touchscreen and built-in HD Radio are working after setup?

The 8" capacitive touchscreen should respond to touch immediately. Tune to a local HD Radio station; the display will show the HD logo and multicast channels when the digital signal locks. Bluetooth pairing and audio streaming confirm the hands-free module is active.

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately for the DMH-C5500NEX and bullet camera?

The package includes the 8" multimedia receiver, the bullet camera, and a microphone for Auto EQ. A SiriusXM tuner, a rear-view camera adapter for the bullet camera, and any vehicle-specific dash kit or wiring harness are sold separately.

Which version should I choose: the DMH-C5500NEX with bullet camera or the receiver alone?

Choose the bundle with the bullet camera if you need a dedicated rear-view camera for parking assistance. Select the receiver alone if you already have a compatible camera or plan to use a different video source. Both include the 8" touchscreen, HD Radio, and 13-band graphic EQ.
