chassis fit and 6.8" display

The Pioneer DMH-W4600NEX is a mechless digital media receiver built around a 6.8" WVGA capacitive touch screen. Its short chassis design suits dash openings where depth is limited. The HD screen and responsive interface target drivers who want smartphone-driven control without a disc mechanism.

Wired and wireless smartphone integration

The unit supports both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, letting you connect an iPhone or Android phone by cable or Bluetooth. Amazon Alexa is built in and also accessible through the Alexa SDK for voice commands. These features free the driver from handling the phone while keeping navigation, messaging and music on the dashboard display.

Upgrade from single-connection or non-touch units

This receiver replaces head units that only offer wired CarPlay or Android Auto, or that lack a touch screen entirely. The jump is worth it when you need both wired and wireless projection options plus hands-free Alexa in a shallow-mount form factor. It does not serve buyers who require a CD or DVD drive, or who need a larger display than 6.8 inches.

Questions about this item

How long can the 6.8-inch capacitive touch screen run continuously before heat becomes an issue?

The short-chassis design fits standard dash openings and the 6.8-inch WVGA display is built for all-day use in normal vehicle temperatures.

Does the receiver fan or amplifier produce noticeable noise during extended drives?

The mechless unit has no disc mechanism, so operation stays quiet; only the vehicle's own climate and road noise will be heard.

Which smartphone and connection method are needed for wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?

An iPhone or Android phone with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled pairs directly to the DMH-W4600NEX for wireless CarPlay or Android Auto.
