Check Operating System and Driver Needs

Windows 11 and 10 work without an extra driver; Windows 8.1, 8 and 7 require the supplied driver package. Verify an available USB-A port and confirm the target router broadcasts on 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz before ordering.

Mini Form Factor and Hotspot Support

The adapter measures 40 by 19 by 9 mm and stays nearly flush with the chassis, leaving adjacent ports free. It supports station mode for client access and soft AP mode to share a wired connection as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices.

Questions about this item

Does the UGREEN AC650 USB WiFi adapter include any cables or drivers on disc, or is everything built into the dongle?

The adapter is a self-contained dongle measuring 40 x 19 x 9 mm with no separate cables; Windows 11 and 10 work without extra drivers, while Windows 8.1, 8 and 7 need the driver from the included instructions.

Should I choose the 5.0 GHz band for the 433 Mbps link or the 2.4 GHz band for the 200 Mbps link?

The adapter runs both bands simultaneously and switches automatically; use 5.0 GHz for the higher 433 Mbps rate when close to the router, and 2.4 GHz for better range through walls at 200 Mbps.

Will the advertised 433 Mbps on 5.0 GHz translate to that throughput on my desktop?

The 433 Mbps figure is the maximum PHY rate on the 5.0 GHz band; real-world throughput will be lower due to overhead, signal quality and your router's capabilities.
