Plano Guide Series Airliner Triple Rod Case

The Plano Guide Series Airliner 458800 is a telescoping rod tube built to protect valuable fishing rods during travel. Its three-tier interior layout holds up to eight 7-foot rods in separate compartments. The case collapses to 47 inches and extends to 88 inches to match different rod lengths. Anglers who transport multiple rods will find the adjustable length practical for varied setups.

Rugged shell handles transport stress

The hard-shell construction shields rods from impacts, crushing and rough handling in transit. No moving cooling parts or power draw exist, so the case operates silently and adds no electrical load. The telescoping mechanism locks at the chosen length without extra tools. Buyers who need active climate control or powered protection should look elsewhere.

Telescoping length replaces multiple fixed tubes

The adjustable 47-to-88-inch range lets one case cover short and long rods, reducing the number of tubes to carry. Internal dividers keep rods organised and prevent contact damage during movement. No rod straps, desiccant packs or locking hardware are included in the package. Users who want integrated locks or humidity control must add those separately.

Questions about this item

How do I adjust the telescoping length from 47 to 88 inches without damaging the locking mechanism?

Extend each section slowly until the internal detent clicks into place; forcing a section past the click can strip the plastic cam that holds the tube at length.

Which part will need replacement first if I use this case weekly for saltwater trips?

The rubber end caps and internal foam dividers degrade fastest from salt exposure; rinse them with fresh water after every trip and plan to swap them annually.

At what packed length does the 458800 case stop fitting in standard vehicle roof boxes?

When fully extended to 88 inches the case exceeds most roof-box internal lengths, so collapse it to 47 inches before loading.
