USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

The Plugable USB3-E1000 adds a wired Gigabit Ethernet port to any device with a USB 3.0 socket. It serves laptops, desktops and the Nintendo Switch in docked mode where built-in Ethernet is missing or wireless is unreliable. The AX88179B chipset delivers up to 1000 Mbps throughput for streaming, gaming and large transfers.

Driver-free setup on supported systems

Windows 10 and 11 install the driver automatically through Windows Update, while macOS 11 through 15 and Linux kernel 3.9+ use native CDC-NCM support. No manual download is required on those platforms. Older Windows releases such as 8.1, 7 and XP may need the driver from the manufacturer.

Check your USB port and OS version

Verify the host has a USB 3.0 Type-A port; the adapter will fall back to slower speeds on USB 2.0. Confirm the operating system matches the supported list: Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 7, XP, macOS 11 to 15, Linux kernel 3.9 or later, Chrome OS or iPadOS. The Nintendo Switch must be used in docked mode.
