Extension microphones for SoundStation2

The Polycom 2200-16155-001 kit adds two extension microphones to a SoundStation2 conference phone. It is designed for meeting rooms where the base unit alone cannot reach every participant. Each microphone extends voice pickup so people can speak naturally from further away.

Dynamic Noise Reduction and 360-degree coverage

Dynamic Noise Reduction lowers background sound while keeping voices clear. The system uses intelligent mixing across 360-degree coverage so only the microphone nearest the active speaker stays on. Normal conversation levels are captured cleanly without extra gain or hiss.

Consistent clarity up to 10 feet

In sustained conferences the microphones maintain steady pickup for speakers up to 10 feet away. Intelligent mixing prevents multiple mics from staying open at once, which avoids echo build-up over long calls. The result is stable, natural audio throughout extended sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the 2200-16155-001 extension microphones to my SoundStation2, and what is the common mistake?

Plug each microphone cable into the dedicated ports on the SoundStation2 base unit; the common mistake is seating only one of the two plugs, which leaves half the room uncovered.

What maintenance will the two extension microphones need over time?

The microphones have no user-serviceable parts; occasional cleaning of the grille with a dry cloth keeps Dynamic Noise Reduction working effectively.

At what distance does voice pickup degrade first during a long conference?

Clear pickup is specified up to 10 feet; beyond that range sensitivity drops and background noise becomes more noticeable.
