Best-fit meeting spaces

The Polycom EagleEye MSR is a VoIP camera built for Microsoft Skype Room Systems and other Microsoft-certified room platforms. It targets medium and large meeting rooms where a single wide-angle view must reach every seat. Buyers who need a camera for small huddle spaces or personal desktops will find the field of view and zoom range oversized for those rooms.

Installation and common issues

The camera connects through a USB 2.0 port and is controlled with an included handheld remote that drives pan, tilt and 12x optical zoom. Setup is straightforward when the host system already runs a certified Skype Room System image; the device is recognised automatically. Problems usually appear when the camera is plugged into a generic PC without the Microsoft room software, because pan, tilt and zoom controls then have no driver surface.

Sustained-session behaviour

The sensor delivers 1920 x 1080 video at 30 fps continuously, so long conferences keep the same frame rate and colour fidelity from start to finish. A 72.5° horizontal field of view and 44.8° vertical field of view stay fixed while the optical zoom re-frames the scene, avoiding the quality drop that digital zoom creates. The CMOS sensor maintains consistent exposure during extended meetings without the brightness drift seen in shorter-spec cameras.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the camera is delivering 1080p at 30 fps after connecting it to the room system?

Open the Skype Room Systems console and confirm the video settings show 1920 x 1080 resolution at 30 frames per second; the preview window should display smooth motion without dropped frames.

What comes in the box and do I need a separate mount or power supply?

The package includes the EagleEye MSR camera and a handheld remote for pan, tilt and 12x zoom control; it draws power over USB 2.0 so no external adapter is required, and a wall-mount bracket is sold separately.

Should I choose this 72.5° field-of-view model or a narrower-angle version for a medium-sized room?

The 72.5° horizontal field of view with 12x optical zoom covers medium and large meeting spaces; select this version when participants sit across a wide area and you need remote-controlled framing.
