Dell XPS 12 car power

This Power4Laptops DC adapter lets you run a Dell XPS 12 or charge its battery from a vehicle’s 12 V cigarette-lighter socket. It supplies 19.5 V at 2.31 A through a 4.5 mm by 3.0 mm centre-pin plug. The unit powers the laptop while the battery is installed and continues charging after the system is turned off.

Mobile workers needing in-car power

Suits anyone who works from a car, van or truck and needs to keep a Dell XPS 12 operational between sites. Not for users who require an AC mains adapter, a USB-C power source, or a different barrel-plug size for another laptop model.

4.5 mm × 3.0 mm centre-pin plug

The connector dimensions and 19.5 V output are the decisive specifications; they must match the XPS 12’s power jack exactly. Verify the tip size and voltage on your original adapter before purchase.

Questions about this item

Which voltage and plug size match the Dell XPS 12?

This charger supplies 19.5V at 2.31A through a 4.5mm x 3.0mm centre-pin plug, the exact specification required by the XPS 12.

Will it run the XPS 12 and charge the battery at the same time?

Yes. When the laptop is on, the adapter powers the system and charges the battery if needed; when the laptop is off, it charges the battery and then maintains the charge.

What input does it accept and what output does that limit?

It accepts 12V DC from a vehicle cigarette-lighter socket and converts it to a regulated 19.5V 2.31A output, so the car's electrical system is the only practical limit.
