Questions about this item

How bright will the 220 W lamp make my Hitachi ED-X31 projector?

The 220 W rating is the lamp's power draw, not a brightness spec in lumens. Actual screen brightness depends on the projector's optical engine, lens and the lamp's age.

Does the lamp module plug straight into the ED-X31 housing without rewiring?

Yes, the DT00911242 module is built to fit the Hitachi ED-X31 housing and uses the original connector, so installation is a direct swap.
