Direct replacement for Dell XPS 9440

This battery replaces the original GT83D or 7T7DY cell in Dell XPS 9440 and XPS 14 9440 laptops. It restores factory runtime for owners whose original pack no longer holds a charge. The part is not suitable for any other Dell model or for users needing a higher-capacity upgrade.

Runs at 11.7 V with 5982 mAh capacity

The cell delivers its rated 11.7 volts and 5982 milliampere-hours without additional cooling or power circuitry. Normal discharge produces no audible noise because the pack has no moving parts. Power draw matches the laptop’s original specifications exactly.

Includes no cables, tools or software

The package contains only the battery itself. Installation requires the user’s own screwdrivers and any adhesive strips the original assembly used. No firmware updates, calibration utilities or driver discs are bundled or required.

Questions about this item

How do I install the GT83D battery in my Dell XPS 9440 and which step is often missed?

Remove the bottom case screws, disconnect the old battery connector before touching any other component, lift out the old pack, seat the GT83D firmly, reconnect its cable, then replace the case screws.

What maintenance or replacement will the 5982mAh pack need over time?

The lithium-ion cells gradually lose capacity; after several hundred charge cycles runtime shortens and a full replacement restores original battery life.

What limit appears first during sustained heavy loads on this 11.7V battery?

Voltage sag under high current draw triggers thermal throttling before the pack overheats, reducing performance until the load eases.
