Capstan for line handling

The Powerwinch Capstan 1000 is a marine electronic winch designed for retrieving lines on recreational and commercial boats. It replaces hand-over-hand hauling with a mechanical advantage that reduces physical effort. Fishermen use it for crab and lobster pots and similar deck tasks. A foot control switch enables hands-free operation from the helm or deck.

Retrieval speed and load control

Line speed varies with drum rotation and can be adjusted by changing tension on the line. This allows the operator to maintain control over heavy loads without sudden surges. The capstan handles most common rope types but must never be used with chain. Its maximum retrieval performance is suited to typical pot-hauling and line-management duties.

Hands-free operation and simplicity

The included footswitch (R001459) lets the boater start and stop the drum without leaving the controls or needing extra crew. Few moving parts keep maintenance low and reliability high in saltwater environments. Normal use draws modest power from the vessel’s electrical system and runs quietly enough for conversation on deck.
