Plug-in CD player adds disc playback to 2019-2026 Ford Ranger via USB with Bluetooth and steering-wheel control
This Pro Star unit adds a single-disc CD player to Ranger models that no longer include one from the factory. It connects directly to the vehicle's USB port for a plug-and-play installation that requires no extra wiring or tools. The compact player can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the centre console or in the glove box. It is designed for drivers who want to keep using their existing CD collection in a newer vehicle.
The player draws power from the USB port, so there is no separate power cable to route. Audio playback is controlled through the factory radio or steering wheel buttons, keeping the driver's hands on the wheel. A built-in skip protection buffer helps prevent playback interruptions caused by road vibration. The system relies entirely on the vehicle's USB interface for both power and data communication.
The most critical step is allowing a full two minutes for the CD to finish indexing during initial setup. If this process is interrupted before completion, the installation must be restarted from the beginning with a different disc following the printed instructions. Buyers who need immediate plug-and-play audio without a mandatory waiting period should be aware of this constraint.

Plug the USB cable into the vehicle's USB port and mount the unit vertically or horizontally where the cable reaches. You must allow 2 minutes for the CD to finish indexing before using it; interrupting this process requires restarting installation from Step 1 with a different disc.
The unit has no user-serviceable parts and draws power from the USB port, so no battery changes are required. Keep the disc slot clear of dust and debris; if the laser lens becomes dirty, a standard lens-cleaning disc can restore read performance.
Continuous operation is limited by the vehicle USB port's current supply; if the port cannot deliver enough power during extended playback, the player may shut down or fail to index discs until the port cools or the engine is running to stabilize voltage.
