External CD Player for Jaguar XJ

The Pro Star USB CD player adds a single-disc drive to 2019-2026 Jaguar XJ models that no longer include a factory CD slot. It connects directly to the vehicle's USB port and integrates with the existing CarPlay interface so audio CDs can be controlled from the factory radio or steering wheel buttons. The kit is intended for owners who still listen to physical discs and want a simple, reversible installation.

USB-Powered Plug-and-Play Limits

Power and data both travel over the car's USB port, so no separate wiring, adapters or tools are required. The host system needs a functional USB connection that supports CarPlay; vehicles without that capability or with a damaged port will not work. Indexing each disc takes about two minutes and must finish uninterrupted, otherwise the process must be restarted from the beginning with a different disc.

Flexible Mounting and Daily Use

The compact drive can be secured vertically or horizontally on the centre console, inside the glove box, or anywhere the supplied cable reaches the USB port. Its lightweight construction means it stays in place with minimal mounting hardware and does not obstruct other controls. Because it draws power only when the vehicle is on, there is no parasitic drain on the battery when the car is parked.

What does the USB-powered CarPlay connection actually do in the car?

It adds an external CD player that reads discs through the vehicle's USB port and lets you control playback with the factory radio or steering wheel buttons.
